This is a copy cat recipe of my favorite sandwich at a local vegan restaurant (Native Foods Café).
The wrap is made with vegan nuggets dipped in hot wing sauce and wrapped in a tortilla with mixed greens, avocado slices, and a cucumber salsa. Unfortunately, the Café is just too far away for us to go to often. However, I figured that my favorite wrap would be very easy to recreate at home, and I could probably make it even healthier (with organic ingredients, etc.).

The whole wrap just totally works together; however, I think my favorite part is the cucumber salsa that’s in it. It’s such a cool and refreshing addition to the wrap!

We generally try to stay away from vegan processed meat substitutes since they are usually made with isolates (i.e., soy protein isolate or pea protein isolate). IMO, they just seem a little too over-processed as they’re made by isolating the protein from the rest of the vegetable, and removing everything else. We’ll eat them occasionally, but we generally try to eat more whole foods than processed foods.
We did recently find a brand of vegan meat substitutes that are made out of jack fruit. While we still try to eat these in moderation, these Jack & Annie’s do seem to be less processed than some of the other brands. For our Twister Wrap, we decided to use these vegan jack nuggets, and they were perfect!
