How to Toast Coconut

Some recipes that call for Toasted Coconut, and it’s a pretty simple and quick process. For example my No Sugar No Bake Cookie Ball recipes call for toasted coconut. These healthy and yummy little treats are made with oats, honey, toasted coconut, and almond butter (or peanut butter). There is a version with and without cocoa.

1. Oven Method: Preheat oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C). Spread coconut shreds or flakes on a baking sheet in a thin layer. Toast for about 3-5 minutes or until golden brown. You need to be sure to keep an eye on it because it can burn easily. My coconut was finely shredded, and it toasted in about 3 minutes.

2. Skillet Method: Spread coconut shreds or flakes in skillet, and cook over medium heat until toasted, stirring occasionally until golden brown.
